Basketball Game Preview: Washington Hatchets vs. South Knox Spartans

The Washington Hatchets are headed away from home for the first time to challenge the South Knox Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Washington is leaving town to face South Knox after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. The Hatchets were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 48-47 to North Knox.

Despite the defeat, Washington had strong showings from Katie Reed, who posted 18 points, and Ella Williams, who went 5-for-12 en route to 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Shay Hawk, who put up four points and seven boards.

Meanwhile, South Knox entered their tilt with Eastern Greene on Saturday with 14 consecutive wins dating back to last season but they'll enter their next game with 15. They blew past the Thunderbirds 79-19.

Washington couldn't quite get it done against South Knox when the teams last played back in November of 2024 as they fell 64-55. Can the Hatchets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
