Baseball Recap: Antioch Comes Up Short

Antioch was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 6-2 to the Armijo Royals. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Royals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Antioch saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Mutter, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Kamari Davis also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Antioch's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Armijo, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4-1 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Antioch will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Mt. Eden at 4:00 p.m. on April 2. As for Armijo, they will square off against Fairfield at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fairfield's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Armijo's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
