Baseball Preview: Coventry Patriots vs. Windsor Locks Raiders

Coventry is 10-0 against Windsor Locks since May of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Coventry Patriots will head out on the road to challenge the Windsor Locks Raiders at 3:45 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Wednesday, Coventry had just enough and edged Woodstock Academy out 8-7. The win made it back-to-back victories for Coventry.

Evan Menzel made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (he also only allowed one walk). Menzel was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-5.

In other batting news, Jacob Wojtkowiak was incredible, scoring a run and stealing five bases while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Nate Cordner, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

On the hitting side, Xavier Angel and Vinny Procopio did most of the damage at the plate: Angel scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Procopio scored a run while going 2-for-3. Jack Grasso was another key contributor, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and a double.

Coventry's record is now 2-0. As for Windsor Locks, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
