Basketball Recap: Coventry Falls Short Against Ranked Woodstock Academy

On Monday, Coventry faced Woodstock Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Coventry Patriots fell to the Woodstock Academy Centaurs 47-41. The match marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hailey Mayo, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jianna Foran, who posted 11 points and seven boards.

Coventry's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-1. As for Woodstock Academy, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coventry has already played their next game, a 40-21 victory against East Granby on the 14th. Woodstock Academy has also already played their next match (against Southington), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
