Football Game Preview: El Segundo Eagles vs. Calabasas Coyotes + Official Tickets

The El Segundo Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Calabasas Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. El Segundo's defense has only allowed 13.9 points per game this season, so Calabasas' offense will have their work cut out for them.

El Segundo will head out to face Calabasas after giving up their first home loss of the season on Thursday. The Eagles fell just short of West by a score of 31-28. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Eagles, who until this matchup were averaging 13.9 points allowed.

Despite the loss, El Segundo got top-tier performance from Lincoln Quaintance, who rushed for 178 yards and four scores while picking up 9.4 yards per carry. Quaintance was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards. El Segundo also got a significant boost from Ryan Wiacek, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 102 yards.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Calabasas and Westlake meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Coyotes came up short against the Warriors, falling 35-10. While losing is never fun, the Coyotes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while the Warriors are ranked 90th).

Calabasas' defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for El Segundo, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 8-2.
