Elgin came tearing into Friday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the North Rock Creek Cougars.

Jaxon Southerland was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Lucas Young was excellent, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Elgin's record now sits at 35-6. As for North Rock Creek, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 24-16.

As of now, neither Elgin nor the Cougars have any future games scheduled.
