Baseball Game Preview: Bunn Wildcats vs. Nash Central Bulldogs

Bunn is on a ten-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Nash Central is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Wildcats will welcome the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Bunn 1.7, Nash Central 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Bunn's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They came out on top against East Wake by a score of 4-0. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Nash Central got the win against Rocky Mount on Thursday by a conclusive 16-0. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Caleb Cox looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tyler Bowen, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Moss, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Nash Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rocky Mount only posted an OBP of .304.

Nash Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Bunn, their win bumped their record up to 15-0.

Bunn skirted past Nash Central 4-3 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
