Volleyball Recap: Silver Creek Takes a Loss

Silver Creek entered their matchup against Jeffersonville on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Dragons fell just short of the Red Devils by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Red Devils this season, with their most recent defeat being a 2-0 loss last Saturday.

Silver Creek was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Jeffersonville work for it, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 18-25, 26-23, 24-26, 25-20, 15-12.

Franz Basener paced Silver Creek's offense, picking up 22 kills. Basener got some help from Napoleon Lankford and his 38 assists. Lucas Linderman controlled things from the service line, finishing with eight aces.

Silver Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Jeffersonville, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Silver Creek will face off against rival Floyd Central at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Jeffersonville is set to take on their familiar foe Jennings County at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
