Soccer Recap: Virginia Academy Starts Season with Win Against Highland

Virginia Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Highland Hawks a 4-0 shutout. That's more bragging rights for the Patriots, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

They hit Highland with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Sabrina Castellanos (2), Amy Angel, and Mandy Sutton.

Having lost for the first time this season, Highland fell to 2-1.

Looking ahead, Virginia Academy is headed away from home for the first time to square off against Steward at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Highland will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Fredericksburg Academy at 4:30 p.m. on April 3rd.
