Football Game Preview: Tyler Lions vs. Highland Park Scots

Tyler hasn't had much luck against Highland Park recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Scots at 7:00 p.m. The game will give Tyler their first taste of in-conference action this season.

It was a proper cat-fight when Tyler took on Lufkin on Friday. The Lions took a 28-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers.

Despite the loss, Tyler got top-tier performance from Cadarius McMiller, who rushed for 107 yards and one TD.

Meanwhile, Highland Park had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They breezed past the Bruins to the tune of 58-26. That looming 58-26 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Scots yet this season.

Highland Park's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Tyler, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Tyler might still be hurting after the 35-9 loss they got from Highland Park when the teams last played back in September of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Lions were down 28-3.
