Baseball Recap: Spencerport Takes a Loss

Spencerport fell victim to Churchville-Chili and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Saints by a score of 2-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Saints this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-0 on Monday.

Andrew Lamberton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Spencerport saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grant Distaffen, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Spencerport has also been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Churchville-Chili, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spencerport will head out to take on Victor at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Churchville-Chili, they will venture away from home to square off against Webster Schroeder at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
