Spruce Mountain and Madison are an even 3-3 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Phoenix will head out on the road to face off against the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Dirigo hit Spruce Mountain with a four-run seventh inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Phoenix fell 9-6 to the Cougars.

Connor Foss made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Madison entered their match against Monmouth Academy on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Bulldogs lost 10-0 to the Mustangs. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Xavier Estes was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Spruce Mountain's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Madison, they suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 3-3.

Spruce Mountain suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Madison when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Phoenix avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
