Basketball Recap: Ascent Classical Academy Comes Up Short

If Ascent Classical Academy was feeling good fresh off their 38-15 takedown of Aurora West College Prep Academy two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Ascent Classical Academy Guardians came up short against the Twin Peaks Classical Academy Timberwolves on Monday, falling 49-28. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Guardians of the 49-26 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Twin Peaks Classical Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaleigh Van Pelt, who went 8 for 20 en route to 18 points in addition to seven rebounds and five blocks. With that strong performance, Van Pelt is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Cleo Baker, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 steals.

Ascent Classical Academy's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-7. As for Twin Peaks Classical Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Ascent Classical Academy will venture away from home to face off against Rocky Mountain Lutheran at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Twin Peaks Classical Academy, they will host Golden View Classical Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Golden View Classical Academy: 25.5, Twin Peaks Classical Academy: 27.8) so any points scored will be well earned.
