Soccer Game Preview: Caledonia vs. Booneville

The Caledonia Cavaliers will head out to challenge the Booneville Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Caledonia will bounce into Monday's matchup after beating Starkville, who they had gone 0-7-1 against in their eight prior meetings. The Cavaliers came out on top against the Yellowjackets by a score of 3-1 on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Booneville had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. While the 3-3 score might suggest a draw, it was the Blue Devils who were credited with the win on Monday. Booneville got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to South Pontotoc's two. Booneville better thank their lucky stars for the performance of Parker Pounders, as he scored every single goal for his team.

Caledonia's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Booneville, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.

Caledonia took their victory against Booneville when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 6-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cavaliers since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
