Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lodi). They blew past the West Wolfpack 12-0 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Flames, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.
Slade Schmitt looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Charlie Casazza was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Whiting, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Lodi was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West only posted a batting average of .182.
The win (which was Lodi's fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for West, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11-1 record this season.
Lodi will square off against Enochs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Flames are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for West, they will face off against Lincoln at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
