Baseball Game Preview: Metuchen Bulldogs vs. Carteret Ramblers

Metuchen has won four straight games at home, while Carteret has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Bulldogs will welcome the Ramblers at 4:00 p.m. Metuchen will be strutting in after a win while Carteret will be coming in after a loss.

Metuchen had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 17-run drubbing they dealt Rahway on Thursday. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over the Indians. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Carteret didn't have quite enough to beat Metuchen on Wednesday and fell 5-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Ramblers in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost nine in a row.

Miles Ferreiras made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Metuchen is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Carteret, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Metuchen skirted past Carteret 5-3 in their previous matchup on Wednesday. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Ramblers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
