Basketball Recap: Alton Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Alton hadn't done well against Belleville West recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Alton Redbirds came out on top against the Belleville West Maroons by a score of 57-48. Given the Redbirds' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Maroons are ranked 92nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
