Alcester-Hudson hadn't done well against Garretson recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Cubs came out on top in a nail-biter against the Blue Dragons, sneaking past 3-2. For the Cubs, this counts as revenge for the 3-0 win the Blue Dragons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Alcester-Hudson wouldn't go down easily and took Garretson into a fifth set where they got it done with a nine-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-27, 20-25, 25-22, 15-6.

Despite the loss, Garretson saw an underclassman step up: freshman Bryn Stiefvater had 11 digs and three aces. Those 11 digs set a new season-high mark for Stiefvater. Ava Peters also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Alcester-Hudson and bumps their season record up to 5-11. As for Garretson, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season.

Alcester-Hudson has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Parker/Marion on the 2nd. As for Garretson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Elkton/Lake Benton on the 6th.
