WPIAL AAA Parkway recap September 4, 2013
Tyler Ishman of Hopewell ran for the longest rushing play in WPIAL AAA Parkway this season against Montour last week. Ishman scampered for 59 yards on the play and finished with 141 on the day as his team lost to the Spartans.
Central Valley was the team made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from seventh to fourth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Warriors defeated New Castle 29-6.
Cole Macek provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Montour topped Hopewell. Macek's favorite target this week was DJ Payne, who caught 2 passes for 41 yards.
Payne was the best wideout in the league this week as Lou Cerro's team bested Dave Vestal's team. Christian Tanny helped Montour's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 45 yards.
Ishman was the best running back in WPIAL AAA Parkway this week. Teammate DiMontae Bronaugh added to the ground attack by rushing for 23 yards.
Nate Climo put up the best numbers through the air as Central Valley beat the Hurricanes. He finished with 7 completions for 60 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Dylan Parker and Ishman, the Vikings have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Parker is tops in the league in passing with 78 yards, while Ishman has rushed for 141 yards this season. Tops in the league in receving yards is the Spartans' Tanny, with 45 yards on 2 catches.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Montour takes on Mark Lyons' team. The Spartans are in third place, while the Warriors are in fourth place.
Moon Area scaled the state rankings by moving to 186 from 236 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Tigers were able to make move up by defeating Chartiers Valley 56-23.
