Softball Game Preview: Sandy Valley Cardinals vs. Tuscarawas Valley Trojans

The Sandy Valley Cardinals will face off against the Tuscarawas Valley Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Sandy Valley 3.8, Tuscarawas Valley 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Sandy Valley's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Wednesday's struggle, when Indian Valley hitters got past them. The Cardinals came up short against the Braves on Wednesday, falling 10-4. The Cardinals haven't had much luck with the Braves recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Meanwhile, Tuscarawas Valley strolled into their game on Wednesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against Hiland. The two-run effort marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Calli Stutz was excellent, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Arieana Wade, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Tuscarawas Valley's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Sandy Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6-1.
