Football Recap: Mariah Favela's Menacing Defense Leads Norwalk over Saddleback

While Norwalk didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Their defense stepped up to hand the Saddleback Roadrunners a 13-0 shutout on Monday. 13 seems to be a good number for the Lancers as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Norwalk's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB nine times. Mariah Favela led the group effort, picking up three of those sacks all by herself.

Norwalk's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.0 points on average over those games. As for Saddleback, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, Norwalk will square off against Alhambra at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Saddleback, they have already played their next matchup, a 46-0 loss against Sonora on the 20th.
