Volleyball Recap: Mitchell Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Brandon Valley

Mitchell faced Brandon Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Kernels fell 3-1 to the Lynx. The Kernels haven't had much luck with the Lynx recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

The final score came out to 25-15, 23-25, 25-13, 25-17.

Addie Siemsen paced Mitchell's offense, picking up ten kills. Siemsen really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with 20. Kambyl Wede controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Mya VanWesten was nothing short of spectacular for Brandon Valley: she had 20 digs and three aces. That's the most digs VanWesten has posted over her last six matches. Amelia Miller also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Mitchell's defeat dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Brandon Valley, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 23-3.

Mitchell didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against O'Gorman on the 6th. As for Brandon Valley, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Huron on the 6th.
