Basketball Recap: South Takes a Loss

South lost against Kenston back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The South Rebels were outmatched by the Kenston Bombers and fell 64-34. The Rebels were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-17.

Kenston's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Morgan Cicek, who posted 13 points and six assists. That's the most assists Cicek has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariela Macias, who made all 5 shots she took for 12 points and three steals.

South has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. As for Kenston, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South will face off against North at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Kenston, they will head out on the road to square off against Chardon at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Chardon will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Kenston surely won't give up without a fight.
