Softball Game Preview: Warren County Wildcats vs. James Wood Colonels

The Warren County Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the James Wood Colonels at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Warren County is looking for their season's first win.

It was a proper cat-fight when Warren County challenged Kettle Run on Tuesday. The Wildcats lost 15-5 to the Cougars.

Sophia Lamendola was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. Taylor Wrye also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Sherando hit James Wood with a five-run second inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Colonels fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 7-6. Colonels fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Warriors since on Tuesday.

James Wood's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4. As for Warren County, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.

Warren County might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from James Wood in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
