Basketball Recap: Gaston Day Comes Up Short

Gaston Day and Fayetteville Academy squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Gaston Day had to settle for second. They received a blow as they fell 38-23 to the Fayetteville Academy Eagles. The Spartans just can't catch a break and have now endured five defeats in a row.

Among those leading the charge was Polly Miller, who posted 21 points. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points.

Gaston Day's loss dropped their record down to 4-20. As for Fayetteville Academy, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-9.

Gaston Day does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fayetteville Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 43-40 defeat against Westminster Catawba Christian on the 13th.
