The Mountain Vista Golden Eagles will square off against the Ralston Valley Mustangs at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Mountain Vista is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 46 points per game this season.
Mountain Vista is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They took down Grandview 26-7. Those 26 points were actually the fewest the Golden Eagles have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Ariana Akey was her usual excellent self, throwing for 234 yards and four TDs, while also rushing for 101 yards on only ten carries. She also deserves a shoutout for her performance on D, picking up two sacks, making 12 total tackles, and defending one pass. Kayleigh Besch was in the mix too, providing Mountain Vista with two scores.
Another reason for the win was Mountain Vista's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Akey refused to say out of the backfield, picking up two sacks all by herself. Mountain Vista got some further help from Katelyn Jenkins: she made ten total tackles and defended three passes.
Meanwhile, Ralston Valley faced Cherry Creek in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Mustangs slipped by the Bruins 26-25. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.
Mountain Vista better keep an eye on Ashlyn Callahan. She was instrumental in Ralston Valley's win, picking up 79 receiving yards and one touchdown, while also rushing for 44 yards and one TD.
Ralston Valley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Liliana Meraz, Emma O'Connor, and Callahan picked up one apiece. O'Connor got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Mountain Vista's record now sits at 17-0. As for Ralston Valley, their record is now 14-3.
Everything came up roses for Mountain Vista against Ralston Valley in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 48-21 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Callahan, who rushed for 75 yards and one score on only seven carries, and also picked up 64 receiving yards. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Golden Eagles still be able to contain Callahan? There's only one way to find out.
