Cooper Holland looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nick Smith, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Bancroft, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Charlotte Christian got the win against South Mecklenburg on Tuesday by a conclusive 9-3.
Owen Farrell was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jack McGrath, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Charlotte Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Charlotte Latin, their victory bumped their record up to 16-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Charlotte Latin has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Charlotte Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Charlotte Latin suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Charlotte Christian in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
