Basketball Recap: Springfield Finds Playoff Glory Versus Mile High Academy

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Springfield had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They strolled past the Mile High Academy Mustangs with points to spare, taking the game 49-33.

Springfield found their leader in freshman Cobi Mackey, who posted 25 points along with seven steals and six boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mackey has scored at least a third of Springfield's points. Jersey Speck was another key player, putting up ten points and seven rebounds.

Springfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 16 consecutive games.

Springfield is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.9 points over those games. Mile High Academy moved to 17-7 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Springfield has already played their next match, a 54-32 loss against Evangel Christian Academy on the 7th. Mile High Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
