Baseball Game Preview: Catholic Central Irish vs. West Jefferson Roughriders

Catholic Central is 0-4 against West Jefferson since April of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Irish will host the Roughriders at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Catholic Central is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Fairlawn. The Irish never let the Jets get on the board and left with a 6-0 win on Friday. The Irish not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 29, 2024.

The result came thanks to Ben Bramel's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up 14 Ks.

On the hitting side, Berkeley Little was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Aleec Tackett, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, West Jefferson was able to grind out a solid victory over Bishop Ready on Tuesday, taking the game 11-8.

Catholic Central suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to West Jefferson in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Irish avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
