Baseball Game Preview: Peninsula Seahawks vs. Curtis Vikings

The Peninsula Seahawks will take on the Curtis Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Peninsula is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Peninsula's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over Central Kitsap. The game was the first time the Seahawks have beaten the Cougars on their field since March 29, 2022.

Not much got past Kaleb Copeland, who gave up just two hits to keep Central Kitsap off the board.

At the plate, Peninsula saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jonathon Vergara-Dykes, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Curtis came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Bison.

Curtis' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Peninsula, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-6-1.

Peninsula came up short against Curtis in their previous matchup back in April of 2021, falling 6-1. Can the Seahawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
