Basketball Recap: Alameda Pirates vs. Arvada Bulldogs
If Alameda was feeling good fresh off their 60-29 takedown of Aurora West College Prep Academy last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Alameda Pirates took a 57-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Arvada Bulldogs on Saturday. The Pirates were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in February of 2020.

Despite the defeat, Alameda saw an underclassman step up: freshman Eduardo Cantillo dropped a double-double with 13 points and 13 boards. That's the most rebounds Cantillo has posted since back in January. Dominic Huerta was another key player, shooting 45% from the field to rack up 14 points.
Even though they lost, Alameda was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Arvada only four assists.
Arvada got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tre Kent out in front who scored 16 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Ozias Garrett, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten boards.
Alameda's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Arvada, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-18.
As of now, neither Alameda nor Arvada have any future games scheduled.
