Football Recap: Hickory Comes Up Short + How To Watch

After flying high against Lakeland last Friday, Hickory came back down to earth. The Hawks took a 27-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nansemond River Warriors on Friday. The Hawks have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Nansemond River's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ethan Welton, who rushed for 120 yards and three TDs. The Warriors also got a significant boost from Tyrell Grant Jr, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 88 yards.

Hickory now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Nansemond River, their record is now 6-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hickory will host King's Fork at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Hawks surely won't give up without a fight. As for Nansemond River, they will be playing at home against Oscar Smith at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Warriors 13.1, the Tigers 11.6) so any points scored will be well earned.
