Baseball Game Preview: Johnston Panthers vs. Prout Crusaders

The Johnston Panthers will take on the Prout Crusaders at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Johnston will be strutting in after a win while Prout will be coming in after a defeat.

If Johnston beats Prout with nine runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Panthers blew past Middletown 9-3 on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Islanders: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Prout came up short against East Greenwich on Saturday and fell 7-4. The Crusaders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Prout saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Chofay, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. Another was Dylan Coutu, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Prout's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Johnston, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-9.

Johnston came out on top in a nail-biter against Prout in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 8-7. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Crusaders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
