Basketball Recap: Emory Klish's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Longmont over Holy Family

Longmont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 45-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Holy Family Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while the Tigers are ranked 42nd).

Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emory Klish, who posted ten points and seven boards. Klish continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaila Patterson, who had 14 points.

Holy Family's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alexcia Oaxaca, who scored 14 points and three steals. Oaxaca is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Alyssa Quintana was another key player, putting up eight points and ten rebounds.

Longmont's loss dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Holy Family, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Longmont will venture away from home to face off against Erie at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Holy Family, they will head out to square off against Broomfield at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Broomfield's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches.
