Baseball Recap: Sulligent Wins Going Away Against Carbon Hill

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Phil Campbell, Sulligent was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 14-7 margin over the Carbon Hill Bulldogs. That looming 14-7 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Blue Devils yet this season.

Ethan Stiles made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off ten hits. Stiles was even better at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Wyatt Sandlin was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Will Barnett was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Sulligent was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

With the win, Sulligent broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-7. As for Carbon Hill, they dropped their record down to 3-10 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sulligent will head out to challenge Lynn at 4:00 p.m. on March 21st. We've got a battle between Bulldogs coming up.
