Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Hillsboro

Hillsboro extended their winning streak to five on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 16-3 in the process. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the McClain Tigers. Considering the Indians have won 11 contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Camryn Spruell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, Hillsboro got a massive performance out of Madison Dearmon, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Isabelle Brunck was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Hillsboro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McClain only posted an OBP of .250.

As for McClain, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for they, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-10.

On McClain's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sarah Easter, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Hillsboro has already played their next match (against Clinton-Massie), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for McClain, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 3-2 loss against Piketon on the 1st.
