Basketball Game Preview: River Valley Falcons vs. Roseville Tigers

River Valley is 2-8 against Roseville since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The River Valley Falcons will host the Roseville Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

River Valley is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest defeat since December 11, 2024 on Thursday. They were beaten by Twelve Bridges 67-40. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 510th, while the Raging Rhinos are ranked 247th).

Meanwhile, Roseville played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Placer, falling 63-40. The Tigers were down 51-28 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

River Valley will have to contain Tyler Ritter as he made an impact in Roseville's last game. He posted seven points and seven rebounds. Ritter has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Oreste Yong, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

Roseville's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-7. As for River Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-9.

River Valley couldn't quite finish off Roseville in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 and fell 67-65. Can River Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
