Basketball Recap: Wayne Memorial Sets Scoring Season-High Against Glenville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wayne Memorial). They enjoyed a cozy 79-62 win over the Glenville Tarblooders on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Zebras.

Jaylohn Allen was his usual excellent self, going 8 for 14 on his way to 29 points and seven assists. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Abraham Rooks, who went 6 of 7 on his way to 12 points and eight rebounds.

Wayne Memorial smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive games dating back to last season.

Glenville lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Xavier Vickerstaff, who posted 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevor Mcpherson, who put up 13 points and five rebounds.

Wayne Memorial's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Glenville, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-2.

Wayne Memorial wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 68-52 win against Elyria on the 22nd. As for Glenville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-40 victory against Cleveland Central Catholic on the 28th.
