Basketball Recap: Shady Side Academy Comes Up Short

Shady Side Academy and Trinity squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Shady Side Academy had to settle for second. They took a blow against the Trinity Shamrocks, falling 82-46. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 234th, while the Shamrocks are ranked 49th).

Trinity was led to victory by Andre Steele and Owen Schlager. Steele went 6-for-13 to rack up 20 points and six assists, while Schlager shot 55% from the field en route to 20 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. Schlager's big performance that evening made it 24 games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reece Brown, who shot 75% from the field on his way to 17 points.

Shady Side Academy now has a losing record of 13-14. As for Trinity, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-6.

Shady Side Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Trinity, they will challenge South Allegheny at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Trinity's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven matches.
