Preview: Mountain View Bruins vs. Mountain Ridge Sentinels
Mountain View is 4-0 against Mountain Ridge since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The two teams will round out the year against one another at 2:30 p.m. at. Mountain View is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
Last Wednesday, the stars were shining brightly for Mountain View in a 63-49 victory over East. That looming 63-49 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Mountain View yet this season.
It was another big night for Conner Fairbanks, who scored 25 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Mountain View's points. Another player making a difference was Simeon Suguturaga, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Mountain Ridge's good fortune finally ran out last Friday. They lost to Farmington on the road by a decisive 67-48 margin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mountain Ridge in their matchups with Farmington: they've now lost three in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Spencer Krainich, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. The match was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. Wyatt Sylvester was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Mountain Ridge struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Mountain View now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Mountain Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the pair are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Mountain View hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 60.7 points per game. It's a different story for Mountain Ridge, though, as they've been averaging only 63.8 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Mountain View strolled past Mountain Ridge when the teams last played back in February of 2021 by a score of 68-53. Will Mountain View repeat their success, or does Mountain Ridge have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
