Softball Recap: Arlington Comes Up Short

Arlington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Glacier Peak Grizzlies. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly three runs.

Peyton Aanstad was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Aanstad wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Morgan Miller, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Arlington's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Glacier Peak, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8.

Coming up, Arlington will welcome Lake Stevens at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Glacier Peak, they will head out to take on Archbishop Murphy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Grizzlies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season.
