Softball Preview: Yreka Miners vs. West Valley Eagles

Yreka is 2-8 against West Valley since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Yreka Miners will be playing in front of their home fans against the West Valley Eagles at 4:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, Yreka came up short against Lassen and fell 13-8.

Meanwhile, West Valley scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They never let Anderson onto the board and left with a 23-0 win. The result was nothing new for West Valley, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Cadynce Gippner made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Gippner has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in six consecutive pitching appearances. Gippner was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, West Valley got a massive performance out of Addy Taylor, who went 4-for-5 with a home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Cammie Wilson, who went 5-for-5 with three runs, three doubles, and three RBI.

Yreka now has a losing record at 11-12. As for West Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.
