Volleyball Game Preview: Holy Names Monarchs vs. Athenian Owls

The Holy Names Monarchs are taking a road trip to square off against the Athenian Owls at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Holy Names barely beat Fremont Christian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Monarchs put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 3-0 win on Thursday. The Monarchs haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Holy Names' got stronger as the match went on, holding Fremont Christian to fewer and fewer points set over set. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-20, 25-18.

Meanwhile, Athenian made easy work of Brave Christian on Tuesday and carried off a 3-0 win.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Athenian took every set by at least 12 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-8, 25-10, 25-13.

Holy Names' victory bumped their record up to 6-14. As for Athenian, their win bumped their record up to 10-11.
