Soccer Game Preview: Highland Park vs. Creekview

Highland Park is a perfect 7-0 against Creekview since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Highland Park Scots will challenge the Creekview Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. Highland Park knows how to get goals on the board -- the team has finished with four goals or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Creekview likes a good challenge.

Highland Park's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Reedy 4-0. Given the Scots' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Lions are ranked 122nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Creekview's game on Tuesday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Newman Smith 2-1. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Caroline Ready and Ayeza Salas scored both of Creekview's goals, bringing their combined season tally to four goals.

Highland Park is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 44 goals over those nine games. As for Creekview, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-7.

Everything went Highland Park's way against Creekview in their previous meeting back in January, as Highland Park made off with a 5-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Highland Park since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
