Softball Recap: Bishop Mcdevitt Makes It Three in a Row on the Road

Bishop McDevitt had won three straight on the road, but on Monday they bumped up to 7-9 to make it four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Central Dauphin East Panthers a 23-0 shutout. Considering the Crusaders have won five games by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Janna Thomas made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Thomas was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Bishop McDevitt got a massive performance out of Emma O'Leary, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Harper Plague was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs.

Bishop McDevitt was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .517. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

As for Central Dauphin East, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13. The matchup marked the first time this season in which they were not able to get on the board.

On Central Dauphin East's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Akira Madden, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.

Coming up, Bishop McDevitt will be playing in front of their home fans against Gettysburg at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Central Dauphin East, they will venture away from home to square off against Palmyra at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
