Football Game Preview: Washington Panthers vs. Providence Catholic Celtics

The Washington Panthers will take on the Providence Catholic Celtics at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Washington will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.

Washington is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. Everything went their way against Mahomet-Seymour as they made off with a 38-14 win. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by 24 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Providence Catholic earned a 35-25 victory over Kankakee on Saturday. Given the Celtics' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 21st, while the Kays are ranked 89th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Providence Catholic didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Anthony Iaquinta.

Providence Catholic's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Washington, their victory bumped their record up to 10-1.

Everything came up roses for Washington against Providence Catholic in their previous meeting back in October of 2018, as the squad secured a 35-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
