Baseball Game Preview: Des Arc Eagles vs. Baptist Prep Eagles

Des Arc are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will face off against Baptist Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Des Arc is headed out to face Baptist Prep after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Des Arc had just enough and edged out Quitman 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since March 28, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Hudson Goodman, who scored a run and stole Six bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Walker Harris was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Four bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Baptist Prep had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victor by an 18-4 margin over Hot Springs.

Hutch Finton made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Finton was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, Nick Boyette was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Nolan Boyette, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Baptist Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .634. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
