Basketball Recap: Jaiden Peterson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Colonial

After losing to Colonial the last time they met, Bishop Moore decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Everything went the Bishop Moore Hornets' way against the Colonial Grenadiers on Monday as the Bishop Moore Hornets made off with a 62-41 win.

Bishop Moore got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaiden Peterson out in front who posted 18 points in addition to six assists and six steals. Peterson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alex Wolsonovich, who went 7 of 11 en route to 17 points and four steals.

Despite the defeat, Colonial saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Yaneyla Pedraza almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Iliana Dorvilus, who had six points along with five boards and three steals.

Bishop Moore's record now sits at 4-9. As for Colonial, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Bishop Moore didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 75-32 win against West Orange on the 8th. As for Colonial, they will welcome Oak Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on January 14th. One thing working in Oak Ridge's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.
