League recap: Peterson throws longest pass in league this season for Arapahoe

Fans got a thrill when Gabe Peterson and Kevin Dement connected against Mullen. The longest such play in 5A Super 6 this season, the connection resulted in 71 yards.

Arapahoe and the Mustangs played the closest game in the league this week, with Arapahoe eventually emerging with a 27-21 victory. Peterson threw for 245 yards and 2 touchdowns in the win.

Bernard McDondle was a beast in the backfield as Columbine bested Chatfield.

Casey Nichols provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Lakewood lost to Bear Creek. He completed 19 passes for 258 yards and also ran for 64 yards. Nichols' favorite target this week was Anthony Brown, who caught 5 passes for 71 yards.

He was 14-22 with 0 interceptions.

McDondle was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 309 yards on 29 carries as the Rebels lost to the Warriors. Larry Munson also contributed to the rushing game with 72 yards on the ground.

The leading receiver in the league this season is Ethan Brunhofer. The Arapahoe star has 34 catches for 550 yards.

The Chargers are currently in second, while the Bears are in fourth.

Columbine made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 583 from 1,182. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 50-43 victory over Chatfield last week.
