Basketball Recap: Elgin/Pope John Beats Plainview for Their Fourth Straight Win

Elgin/Pope John put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past the Plainview Pirates with points to spare, taking the game 41-25. The team ran away with 31 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the win.

Elgin/Pope John's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Madelyn Kurpgeweit, who posted 12 points. The dominant performance gave Kurpgeweit a new career-high in points. Braelyn Martinsen was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Elgin/Pope John pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Plainview, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
